The Vets Section has been a proud and established part of Prenton Golf Club since 1970. It is a formal section within the Golf Club and is open to all members aged 55 and over.

We are a community that values camaraderie, participation and the love of the game of golf above all else. Our ethos is to encourage the widest engagement, welcoming golfers of all abilities to join us in both informal rounds and competitive matches. Whether you are a seasoned player or a newcomer to the game you'll find a supportive and welcoming environment here.

With a membership of over 90 players, of which over 60 are actively involved in matches, our calendar is packed with opportunities to get involved. This covers 18 inter-club senior matches (home and away)- a chance to represent both the section and the club in friendly yet competitive matches across the Wirral and Cheshire region. Our policy here is to always select a team that, whilst remaining competitive, ensures the widest participation - giving everyone a chance to play regardless of golfing ability.

We also have 19 club competitions - with the focus on enjoyment and participation rather than pure ability. There is, of course, just the opportunity for social and informal rounds where the section has preferred early morning tee times throughout the whole year on a Tuesday and Thursday (with the exception of the Club’s monthly medal).

To support the Veterans' Section we have an annual fee, currently £20. This fee covers costs associated with the running of the section including updating the honours boards, occasional catering, prizes, engraving and other administration costs.

I am delighted to have been elected as Skipper for 2026. This is a great honour and I will be proud to represent the Vets Section during the coming year.
I have been a member of Prenton for 27 years and member of the Vets for 5 years. This will be the Vets’ Section 56th year and I am delighted to say the section is currently thriving with around 90 members.  I'm looking forward to playing with as many Vets as possible during the year and also representing the Vets in the Inter Club matches throughout the season.
